The Senior Prom

One time, we went to Prom.

We all had dates, but the poor boys didn't realize they were just there to buy us dinner and drive us around. What really mattered is that we got to go to Prom together. Even though it was jungle themed and in the Fireworks Warehouse.

Remember when college was but a fleeting thought in our heads and only as real as we wanted it to be. When we hadn't even decided where we were going and could only see the future that was two inches in front of our face. Remember when we thought we'd always be together. But maybe it was better that way, not seeing it so clearly. "I'm glad I didn't know, the way it all would end, the way it all would go. Our lives are better left to chance. I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance." It is funny to me now as I look back on the little Utopia I left behind. Susan said once you leave, the grass suddenly seems a little greener in Wichita. I think she was right, but what I miss left Wichita when I did. I miss you guys so much, there is no one else like you. I was told by someone once that I had quality friends and they were right. I thank God for each of you, you are all blessings in my life. Know that no matter where you go, not only are you loved by God, but you are always loved by me. Friends for eternity, I can't think of much better than that. I will close with this simple lyric that you all know, but that has a deeper meaning than the authors intended: "Friends forever, always will be friends. Friends forever, with you everywhere."

Because He Loved First,
Because He Blessed Me With the Gift of You,
Because Come What May..I will love you until my dying day,
Your Sister,
Courtney
